A screening digital mammogram is a low dose x-ray of the breast used to detect breast changes in women who have no signs or symptoms of breast cancer. Digital mammograms make it possible to detect tumors than cannot be felt. They can also detect microcalcifications (tiny deposits of calcium in the breast) that sometimes indicate the presence of breast cancer.
The Breast Diagnostic Center agrees with the American Cancer Society, American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging that women at average risk of breast cancer should begin annual screening mammography at age 40.
We encourage you to stay up-to-date with annual screening mammography beginning at age 40. Annual mammography remains the key to early detection when a possible cancer can best be evaluated and treated.
We offer the latest technology in full-field digital mammography and same-week appointments are typically available for your convenience.
