MCR opens new unit dedicated to caring for women and children

For immediate release: Oct. 1, 2013

Jill Clark, 970.217.7549

Medical Center of the Rockies opened its new unit dedicated to caring for women and children on Oct. 1.

The Women and Children’s unit, which features 12 spacious and private patient rooms, will care for children from birth through 17 years of age, postpartum moms and their babies and female patients following gynecological surgery.

The board-certified pediatricians and certified physician’s assistant from Peakview Medical Center, with offices in Greeley and Loveland, are now on staff as our inpatient hospitalists. Drs. Amy Driscoll, Meshelle Kolanz, Christopher Moore, Julie Noffsinger, Robert Pedersen, Joseph Ryan, and PA-C Tom Deen will provide round-the-clock pediatric coverage at MCR in addition to seeing patients at their clinic locations.

MCR welcomes board-certified OB/GYN Drs. Stewart Abbot, Rick Kiser and Natalie Rochester as well as certified nurse midwives Marie Foose, Colette Ikem and Krista O’Leary. The new providers begin delivering babies and treating women for gynecological conditions at MCR this month.

“Caring for women and children is what our Mother and Family Center team and Women and Children’s team are passionate about,” said Pat Bohling-Smith, director of the Women and Children’s service line at University of Colorado Health in northern Colorado.  “We’re excited to provide family-centered care to each and every patient we care for, and we strive to improve the lives of our patients and the patients’ families. “
