Poudre Valley Health System showcased Poudre Valley Medical Fitness, the first medical fitness center in northern Colorado, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at Marina Health Campus, in Water Valley, Windsor. The facility, owned and operated by PVHS, is scheduled to open Dec. 1 and has already pre-registered more than 500 members.
“Poudre Valley Medical Fitness offers state-of-the-art equipment, pools, medical supervision, and comprehensive health and fitness classes – all in a medical model well-suited for everyone, whether they are training for a marathon, rehabilitating from an injury or illness, or just wanting to become healthier,” said Dr. Patrick Green, Poudre Valley Medical Fitness medical director.
The center is open to members of the public who purchase fitness memberships. It features pools, group exercise classes, computerized fitness tracking, free weights, cardio equipment, babysitting services, wellness and lifestyle classes and personal training by certified trainers. Some PVHS patients will also use the center during rehabilitation.
“Poudre Valley Medical Fitness continues Poudre Valley Health System’s long tradition of high-quality, innovative health care,” said Rulon Stacey, PVHS president and CEO. “This facility is much more than a health club or a gym. It is a medically supervised center that focuses on prevention and treatment of diseases, illnesses and injuries through regular participation in physical activity, disease management and health education.”
At 18,727 square feet, Poudre Valley Medical Fitness is the major anchor tenant in the 66,392-square-foot Marina Health Campus, still under development by Water Valley Land Company and Dohn Construction. By the end of 2011, Marina Health Campus will be the location for a branch of Twenty Three Trees Medical and Wellness Spa, The Blend coffee shop, physician offices and other healthcare services.
The Marina Health Campus is constructed as a “green” building with environmentally sensitive features that allows it to be submitted for a LEED certified rating through the U.S. Green Building Council.
