Runners of all levels prepare for Heart Center Half Marathon
Heart Center of the Rockies, Runner's Roost and Rebound Sports and Physical Therapy are teaming up for the 9th annual Heart Center Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races scheduled for Nov. 5 at Boyd Lake State Park in Loveland.
"This is an exciting event for northern Colorado as it promotes active and healthy lifestyles for any age and fitness level," said Dr. Thomas Downes, Heart Center of the Rockies cardiologist.
The half marathon will start at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland and finish at Boyd Lake. The 10K and 5K races will start and finish in Boyd Lake State Park.
The event is also part of the Healthy Kids Run Series, which is sponsored by the Healthy Kids Club at Poudre Valley Health System. For youth, the short course begins at 8 a.m., and the long course begins at 8:15 a.m. Children ages 5 to12 are welcome to participate.
Proceeds from this year's race will again go to Boyd Lake State Park and the Northern Colorado Running Foundation.
"Last year, the event brought over 850 runners and walkers who enjoyed the three distance courses offered. Also, we've changed the half marathon course a bit this year, making it even more scenic," said Steve Cathcart, race director and owner of the Runner's Roost.
For more information or to register for the Heart Center Half Marathon, 10K or 5K, go to pvhs.org/heartcenterhalf or stop by the Runners Roost at 2720 Council Tree Ave., off of Harmony Road in Fort Collins. Race day registration is also available at the starting location for each race.
