Support Services

Orthopedic classes and support programs at Poudre Valley Health System

The Regional Orthopedic Center at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins and Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland offer a variety of classes and support for orthopedic patients.

Educational programs

To help you fully understand your joint condition, whether surgery is appropriate, and the role you can play, the Regional Orthopedic Center and orthopedic surgeons provide informational seminars in Fort Collins and outlying communities.

The seminars offer both pre-operative and post-operative education about joint pain, arthritis, exercise, and total joint replacement surgery. Our staff can explain what your pain means, whether you need to see a doctor, and when/if you're a candidate for total joint replacement surgery. For more information, call 970.495.8262.

Classes on arthritis and chronic conditions

If you have arthritis or another chronic condition that limits your freedom, flexibility, and lifestyle, you may benefit from one of our chronic conditions classes. For information, call us at 970.495.7500 or visit our classes and events page.

  • "Arthritis in Motion" is a 10-week exercise program that helps you maintain flexibility and range of motion, and build stamina.
  • "Living Well with Arthritis" is a six-week program that teaches you how to positively manage your condition and lead a healthy life.
  • The "Living Well Program" is designed to help people with any chronic condition take charge of their life and their condition and learn specific skills to help them do that. It meets once a week for six weeks.
  • "Arthritis Support Group," which meets monthly in Fort Collins.

Aspen Club

This free PVHS service for people age 50 and over offers arthritis and back strength function/mobility classes, educational programs on fall prevention and balance, as well as strength, mobility, and flexibility classes and exercise classes. For more information, contact the Aspen Club at 970.495.8560.

Health information programs

If you're outside the Fort Collins area, orthopedic specialists at Poudre Valley Hospital use the Telehealth Program -- a video technology that works via phone lines -- to educate, to consult with physicians in rural medical centers, to assess CT scan results, and to swiftly evaluate and recommend treatment, 24 hours a day, right in your home community. For more information about the Telehealth Program, call 970.495.7738.
