Keeping Your Baby Safe
We take the safety and security of your baby very seriously. As a result, we have taken several steps to ensure your baby's safety:
Hand-Recognition Security System
Entry into our nursery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is restricted to people whose identification is encoded in a hand print security system.
ID Bracelets
Matching identification bracelets are placed on you, your baby and the support person of the mother's choice immediately after the birth of the baby. These bracelets need to be worn until the nurse removes them at the time of discharge from the hospital.
ID Badges
All hospital staff who is allowed to take your baby from your room must wear special Poudre Valley Hospital photo ID badges. These special badges are different from the regular hospital ID badges. Question anyone who comes into your room to transport your baby.
Other Measures
For your baby's safety, there are security cameras throughout the units. In addition, your baby is foot-printed shortly after birth.
Here are a few other suggestions for keeping your baby safe while at PVH:

Don't leave your baby alone in your room. If you need to leave, you may take the baby to the nursery.

When your baby is in the room with you, it is best to place the crib on the side of the bed opposite the door. Your baby may go into the bathroom with you.

And finally, if you take a walk in the hall on the Women's Care Unit with your baby, please be sure to keep your baby in crib as you walk.
