Gastric bypass complications during surgery
Gastric bypass is a complicated surgery, which means a higher risk of complications when compared to LAP-BAND®. However, because of our experience and commitment to excellence, our incidence of complications is much lower than the national standards. But, as with all major surgeries, there is a slight risk of death: national average: 0.4 percent; Bariatric Center for the Rockies: 0 percent.

Long-term risks and complications of gastric bypass surgery include:

- DehydrationIntolerance to sugar, which can lead to dumping syndrome.
