The Adolescent Bariatric Program at the Bariatric Center of the Rockies was created to fill the growing national demand of adolescents in need of weight-loss surgery. We are committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive services to deliver the best outcomes for our adolescent patients.
Adolescent bariatric surgery is increasing in popularity due to growing rates of teenage obesity, which affects more than two million children in the United States alone. Morbidly obese adolescents suffer from serious health conditions, including type II diabetes, sleep apnea and high blood pressure. These obesity-related diseases can be resolved or significantly reduced through weight-loss surgery.
Unlike other programs in Colorado, we offer both the gastric bypass and LAP-BAND® surgeries for our adolescent patients. In order to qualify for adolescent bariatric surgery, certain criteria must be met.
In addition to our adolescent bariatric surgery team, we work with an OB/GYN and pediatric psychologist who are dedicated to our adolescent patients.
