Bariatric Surgery

What can I expect after surgery?

After weight-loss surgery, follow-up appointments for patients of Bariatric Center of the Rockies are held at Northern Colorado Surgical Associates. These appointments are an essential part of a patient's recovery and, ultimately, their overall success.

For any medical needs that are not related to weight-loss surgery, patients should see their primary care doctor.

Follow-Up Schedule: Gastric Bypass Patients

  • Following gastric bypass surgery, we see patients:
  • One to two weeks after surgery
  • Six weeks after surgery
  • Three, six and nine months after surgery
  • One year after surgery
  • Annually thereafter

Follow-Up Schedule: LAP-BAND® Patients

Following LAP-BAND surgery, we see patients:

  • One to two weeks after surgery
  • Six weeks after surgery (first LAP-BAND adjustment occurs)
  • Monthly for the first six months after surgery (adjustments will occur as needed)
  • At six, nine, 12, 18 and 24 months after surgery
  • Annually thereafter

Routine Bloodwork

Routine lab draws occur for all patients at six months, one year and annually. These labs include:

  • CMP
  • Lipid panel
  • B12
  • CBC
  • Folate
  • Vitamin D
