MCR Foundation to postpone golf tournament due to air quality

Thank you for your continued support of the Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation Golf Classic. Due to the increasing concern over health issues related to the High Park Fire, the MCR Foundation along with MCR CEO George Hayes and our medical staff, led by Dr. William Neff, have decided to postpone the tournament.

We hold our commitment to the health of our community as our highest priority. Therefore, we have re-scheduled the MCR Foundation Golf Classic for a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, July 31.

We apologize for any inconvenience. If this alternative date does not fit your schedule, you may transfer your sponsorship to the Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament on Sept. 10.*

This is a difficult situation for all of us and our community. University of Colorado Health is actively helping the response effort. Thankfully, so far there have not been any large increases in medical needs at our hospitals related to the fire. We of course stand ready for any potential increase in need for medical care. PVH EMS continues to assist at the front lines, as well as with the day-to-day community needs for their support.

We are honoring our responsibility to support our community, beyond providing world-class health care, in the following ways:

  • $25,000 donation to the Northern Colorado Chapter of the Red Cross to assist with High Park Fire response.
  • $5,000 donation to the Poudre Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.
  • $5,000 donation to the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.
  • Café 1024 at Poudre Valley Hospital and Café 2500 at Medical Center of the Rockies will provide meal vouchers for affected community members and responders.
  • One hundred R95 masks for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department
  • Assisting members of the Northern Colorado Public Communicators group to share and distribute fire response information.
  • and social media: Web and video content on health-related questions about the fire. We will continue to create and provide content that will help the community understand health concerns during this time.
  • Offer, via the Red Cross, of 18,000 square feet of storage space in vacant UC Health space near The Ranch respite center. This space could help response agencies store food, water or other donated items.
  • Offer, via the Red Cross, of sunscreen, hand sanitizer and clothing.

Again, we appreciate your support in helping us meet our communities' health needs through the MCR Foundation. Please contact Shannon Medlicott with questions at 970.237.7406 or

*While we appreciate your continued support we fully understand your desire to receive a refund due to changes in the event. Please contact Shannon at 970.237.7406 to make arrangements.
