Nursing Committees

Poudre Valley Hospital nursing committees:

Nursing Procedure and Protocol

Chair: Sharon Finch

Purpose: The purpose of the Nursing Procedure and Protocol Committee is to ensure that existing procedures and protocols are current and evidence based.  The Nursing Procedure and Protocol Committee will initiate and approve new procedures that provide guidelines for nurses in their delivery of care. This committee supports the Magnet Domains of Empirical Outcomes and New knowledge.


Evidence-Based Health Care

Chair: Cynde Donley

Purpose: The Evidence-based Healthcare (EBH) Committee serves as the leadership team providing evidence-based nursing practice for all patients and families. The EBH Committee promotes a culture of inquiry and creates an environment for evidence-based change in order to improve quality of care and patient outcomes. The EBH committee supports the Magnet Model Component of New Knowledge, Innovations and Improvements, Exemplary Professional Practice and Empirical Quality Outcomes.


Clinical Education

Chair: Jody DeStigter

Purpose: To coordinate clinical education throughout Poudre Valley Hospital that supports innovative, high quality and comprehensive care.  The committee will collaborate with Medical Center of the Rockies to meet the clinical educational goals of Northern University of Colorado Health as appropriate.  The Clinical Education Committee supports the Magnet Component of Structural Empowerment.


Nursing Quality

Chair: Carl (CJ) Bang

Purpose: The purpose of the Nursing Quality Committee is to monitor and evaluate nursing quality activities, to identify actual or potential concerns, and recommend potential solutions and/or follow-up.   The Nursing Quality Committee supports Magnet components Exemplary Professional Practice and Empirical Outcomes.


Clinical Nurse Leadership 

Chair: Jill Zamzow

Purpose: The purpose of the PVH clinical Nursing Leadership Committee is to create a forum to support Nursing Leadership development through education, activities and the sharing of information.  This committee supports Magnet Component of Transformational Leadership. 


Retention and Engagement

Chair: Kristin Tallis

Purpose: To foster and promote the retention and engagement of nurses within Poudre Valley Hospital. This Committee supports the following Magnet Model Components: Structural Empowerment and Exemplary Professional Practice, and supports Strategic Objective #1.


Client and Family Education

Chair: Casey Newth

Purpose: The purpose of the Client and Family Education Committee (CAFE) is to create, develop, and implement a consistent process by which client and family education is provided within the organization, working in conjunction with the Patient and Family Education (PFED) at MCR. 


Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Chair: Cheryl Milner

Purpose: The purpose is to promote world class nursing care by serving as resources and change agents to positively impact patient outcomes by utilizing: evidenced based healthcare, education, consultation, research, quality improvement process, and collegial interdisciplinary relationships.  The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Committee supports Magnet Models Components of Exemplary Professional Practice and New Knowledge, Innovations and Improvements.


Nurse Practice Council

Chair: Annie Hellickson

Purpose: The purpose of the Nurse Practice Council is to lead, coordinate and communicate the nursing activities of Poudre Valley Hospital.  This committee supports all Magnet Model Components.


Nurse Research 

Chair: Jane Arndt

Purpose: The purpose of the Nursing Research Committee is to promote the value of nursing research, facilitate nurse participation in all aspects of nursing research and support the integration of nursing research into healthcare practice at Poudre Valley Hospital.
