Raisin bread hold the frosting

Well, back in the golden olden days ... when dinosaurs ruled, you know, two or three decades ago ... raisin bread had white frosting on top of the loaf.

But no more, which is a good thing since we all need much less refined sugar.

Ellen DeGeneres thinks so, too.

Here's what Ellen did and the truth about sugar...

And here's a fast, healthy menu sans frosting-topped raisin bread for your child's sack lunch:

  • Put two slices of low-fat mozzarella cheese on two slices of raisin bread.

The rest of the menu:

  • Fresh sugar snap peas or carrot wedges.
  • Handful of almonds.
  • One cup of skim or 1% low-fat milk.
